POLICIES

I commit to arrive promptly, work hard and efficiently for the entire shift, and maintain a professional, friendly, upbeat attitude.

In order to best serve your practice, clients, and patients and to provide the most seamless transition between your associates and my relief services, I have certain policies and recommendations for my clients.

Due to Covid-19, I am currently wearing a mask at all times in public places.

Continuity of Clinic Protocols:

I strive to follow each practice’s protocols for patient care. Please see my getting to know you form for details on information you can share with me to make the transition more smooth. If your practice likes to see how others do it please let me know and I will share any tips or tricks I have learned with your vets and staff, and am happy to learn from your practice’s experience as well.

Medication refill policy:

I will refill non-controlled substances based on your hospital policy for clients with a valid VCPR (examined for the condition in question with a diagnosis consistent with the prescribed medication within the last year). I follow AVMA guidelines and Texas veterinary medical board requirements along with all applicable law.

Surgery policy:

For our mutual benefit, I do not perform surgery (including dentals) with a small animal clinic on the first shift worked or until we are familiar with one another. Please do not schedule surgeries until we have mutually agreed upon which procedures I will perform for your practice. I do not perform orthopedic surgery, declaws, cosmetic tail docks, ear crops, or dewclaws. Upon previously agreed-upon protocols I will perform spays, neuters, mass removals, and abscess/ hematoma/ seroma surgeries.  Other soft tissue surgeries and dentals are evaluated separately based on surgical equipment and anesthetic protocols available. I also provide surgery-exclusive shifts (high volume, high quality spays and neuters; dentals; and/or soft tissue surgery).

RATES

In most cases, shifts are $1000 for an eight hour weekday (or a six hour weekend day or holiday).

This rate typically includes up to 2 hours of non-working time (that is, if your clinic closes for lunch, I do not bill the time it is closed and I am not working, eg. 8-12, 2-6) and up to 1 hour of drive time. Shifts which require me to be away from home for more than 11 hours inclusive of drive, break, and work time may be subject to overtime fees; please inquire.

At this time I am not accepting shifts from corporate / chain clinics.

Overtime:

The fee is $250/hr for the first 2 hours (in 15 min increments)  then $500/hr for additional overtime hours. Please note that you may specify whether you prefer the doctor to stay and treat patients, refer to the emergency hospital or designate a person to make the decision for you.

Payment:

Payment is due each day worked; please have payment ready at the end of each shift if I am working a single day. For multiple consecutive days up to 7, you may pay on the last day worked. If I am working in excess of a week, please provide payment weekly. Payment becomes late 14 days after the date worked. If you fail to provide payment or the payment is ineffective (e.g. non sufficient funds) you will be subject to paying any and all collections costs required in the collection of effective payment.

As of 2021, I no longer work for corporate or chain clinics, as a rule.

Review:

I provide a form so you can review my performance.
