Dr. Devaney grew up in Houston, Texas, prior to receiving her doctorate in veterinary medicine from Texas A&M University in 2002.  During her veterinary education, she worked for world-renowned small animal surgeon, Dr. Theresa Fossum, including working with the DeBakey VAD project.

She studied neonatology and critical mare care for one month at the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center, where they have a neonatal intensive care unit.  After becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Devaney went on to complete an internship in a private, equine-only practice in St. Louis, Missouri which treated a diverse caseload of routine ambulatory work as well as referral surgery and internal medicine cases. After her internship, and back in her hometown of Houston, Texas, she provided relief veterinary services to small animal practices while searching for that perfect place to practice.  Dr. Devaney joined Guitar Veterinary Services in June 2004, and when Dr. Guitar decided to retire from practice in California, she started her own equine ambulatory practice and continued to provide relief work in Southern California.  Practicing high quality, evidence-based medicine is her passion.

Dr. Devaney and her family relocated to Houston in 2010. When not working, she gardens, knits, sews, watches rugby, raises and shows Dalmatians and Border Terriers, and spends quality time with her husband and three children.
